Delivery Driver Job Description

Reports To: Operations Manager / Lead Driver
Location: Lexington, South Carolina

Position Overview
 

The Delivery Driver is responsible for safe, timely, and accurate delivery and pickup of packages within a designated delivery route. This position requires professionalism, strict adherence to safety and DOT regulations, and a customer-focused attitude in all interactions.
 

Key Responsibilities
 

• Safely operate company vehicles in all weather and traffic conditions.

• Load and unload packages accurately, ensuring proper handling and secure delivery.

• Follow assigned delivery routes using scanners, GPS, and/or route sheets.

• Deliver packages to residential and business addresses, obtaining required signatures and proof of delivery.

• Pick up return shipments as directed.

• Perform daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any issues promptly.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the assigned vehicle.

• Report accidents, incidents, or route obstacles to management immediately.

• Interact with customers and the public professionally, upholding the FedEx Ground brand and service standards.

• Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and operational protocols.

Requirements
 

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Valid driver’s license and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

• Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening.

• Comfortable lifting packages up to 50 lbs (occasionally heavier with assistance).

• Strong time management and route planning abilities.

• Professional written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work variable hours, including weekends and holiday periods as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
   

Preferred Qualifications
 

• Previous experience in package delivery, truck driving, or route-based work.

• Proficiency with handheld delivery scanners or logistics apps.

• Knowledge of FedEx Ground operations is a plus.
